Employment Opportunity: Customer Support Engineer


Neuro Kinetics, Inc. (NKI) is seeking a bright and energetic individual with an electrical engineering background to add to our team.   As a Customer Support Engineer you'll support our external customer base and provide inside expertise by leveraging your technical knowledge with effective management, problem solving, communication, and analytical skills. You'll be responsible for developing a thorough understanding of NKI’s hardware and software products and resulting customer support needs. You will be a self-starter who can work in a rapidly changing environment, demonstrate problem-solving leadership and be willing to travel.

Essential functions:

  • Primary responsibilities - support external customers:
    • Develop a thorough knowledge of all Neuro Kinetics hardware and software products with an emphasis on electrical systems;
    • Keep customer systems up and running by providing phone, email, and web enabled service;
    • On-site customer support of I-Portal® system repairs and upgrades when necessary;
    • Plan and administer preventive maintenance (PM) programs;
    • Responsible for documentation of all service related issues including PM’s, software upgrades, customer complaints, FDA fixes and the like;
    • Assist with system installations when needed.
  • Secondary responsibilities - support internal department needs including testing, QC, and quality system documentation:
    • Develop and/or update procedures including the loading of production system computers;
    • Test, verify and document production systems prior to shipment;
    • Maintain, repair, and troubleshoot internal systems;
    • Internal consultant on computer designs and components of I-Portal® Products;
    • Provide database support and knowledge to NKI software engineers;
    • Help develop software verification and validation documentation and manage outside validation testing.
  • Support engineering, production, quality management, and regulatory compliance as needed;
  • Professionally represent the company and its capabilities at all times;
  • Actively use and share your knowledge and experience to the benefit of Neuro Kinetics, fellow Neuro Kinetics employees and its customers;
  • Perpetuate a professional, positive, can do attitude and the commitment to get a job done right and on time;


Qualifications and Skills:

  • Minimum of Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, Information Technology, or other technical discipline.
  • Extensive working experience with Windows XP and Windows 7.
  • Microsoft SQL server work experience.
  • Excellent computer hardware knowledge and working experience.
  • Knowledge of Labview, PLC and servo control programming a plus.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills must build successful, respectful relationships with fellow employees, biomedical engineers and medical doctors.
  • Able and willing to travel (travel extensive at times and can be global).
  • Able and willing to handle field service work with limited supervision.
  • Excellent mechanical aptitude and/ or knowledge.
  • Understanding of HIPPA and IT security a plus.
  • Ability to receive federal clearance is a requirement; this position will require background clearance checks for our government customer base.
